Brad was elected as Mayor in 2012 and was Mayor until 2015. During his 3 year term he undertook a revamping of the council policy and procedures. Brad’s policy changes are considered best practice for councils and provide oversight and accountability in councils governance role. His procedures are followed by Fort Smith Town Council.
During Brad’s tenure the town faced a number of obstacles that it had not faced before. The need to plan for replacement infrastructure was brought to the forefront when the town lost its Arena to a catastrophic fire. The facility was renovated and its life was extended by 30 years and the renovation was completed with no tax increase associated with the renovation and resulting debenture.
Brad enjoyed his time as mayor and managed its $8.5M annual budget with no reduction is services to the community.
